PE & Sports Premium

“Sport has the power to change the world”

NELSON MANDELA

At St Pius X we believe that engaging in a range of physical activities is essential to our pupils’ well being. The yearly grant from the government has enabled us to continue to deliver high quality PE.

Swimming

Children in KS2 are taught key skills in swimming through lessons. Within these lessons, children are taught to become effective swimmers in a variety of strokes, enabling them to swim at least 25 metres confidently. Children are also taught key water-safety skills in which they can perform safe, self-rescues in different water based situations.

Our NPCAT Sports Development Coach is Mr M Bowman. His role is to support our vision for a world class school sport system,  ensuring that our children have the knowledge, understanding, confidence, competence and attitude to succeed in sport. For more information about NPCAT sport please visit https://sport.npcat.org.uk/

“I like PE because it is good exercise and it keeps me fit and healthy for the future – it keeps blood pumping around my body.” (Y6)
