St Pius X RC Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Parents should be aware the school would take any reasonable action to ensure the safety of it’s pupils.

In cases where the school has reason to be concerned that a child may be subject to significant harm, ill-treatment, neglect or other forms of abuse, staff have no alternative but to act on this and make any necessary referrals as detailed in our policy and procedures.

Training and Updates

  • All staff know the school’s safeguarding systems, DSL/deputies and have complete required training and understand how to respond to concerns.

  • We work closely with the Trust Safeguarding Team to stay up to date with best practice.

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass directly connects the police with schools to ensure support for children living with domestic abuse in their homes when there has been a police attended incident of Domestic Abuse. Rapid provision of support within the school environment means children are better safeguarded against the short-, medium- and long-term effects of domestic abuse.
